9.30am HOLY COMMUNION: Our Service this morning is led by Matthew and Jon talks to us about Advent and waiting in anticipation for Christ. Isaiah 40:1-9 and Luke 1:39-49

6.30pm EVENING PRAYER (BCP):   A warm welcome to our service this      evening led by Rich.  Paula talks to us about 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 and Matthew 25:14-30.

Prayer requests

  • Following the earthquake on the Iran/Iraq border pray for families who are grieving loss of life and homes that the community around would quickly unite to rebuild before winter.
  • The humanitarian crisis in Yemen is crippling the country. Famine is setting in and 134 child deaths daily from malnutrition and preventable diseases. Pray for peace and reconciliation and a way for aid to enter the country.
  • Pray for political stability in Zimbabwe following the recent military coup.
  • Winter in Central Asia can be -20 and below pray for Johnny, Beth and   Hettie that they would be protected and nourished by the Lord as they seek to bless the people they live amongst.

WOULD YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO IF SOMEONE COLLAPSES? Free basic life support and defibrillator awareness sessions  will be held at Cosy Hall on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 5-7pm. Call 01952 417598 (weekdays     between 9.15am-12noon) or email training@cosyhall.org.uk to let them know you are coming.

Please tell your friends and family.  You have 10 votes – all can be used on the same project.  We need to be one of the first 200 projects to receive 1000 votes.  Thank you.

Please could you help CAP Debt Centre clients and their families enjoy a    better Christmas? We hope to give every family a Christmas hamper but we need your help. Could you buy one of the items as displayed on the chart on the Welcome desk? Some items cost less than £1. Please sign up to provide an item by Sunday 10 December and put a smile on someone’s face this Christmas.

CHRISTMAS LUNCH: A group of us at St John’s have for a couple of years been wondering whether to put on a Christmas Lunch on Christmas Day in the church which would specifically be for those who will be alone at Christmas and would appreciate having a Christmas meal in company. If you know of anyone who might benefit from such an event (a neighbour etc.) this year could you let Matthew, Lesley or Rich know by Sunday 19th November as we will make a decision as to whether to go ahead this year based on demand. Additionally, if you would be willing to help us provide such a lunch or would like to come yourself then please let us know.

DO YOU LIKE WALKING FOR PLEASURE? We meet at St John’s every Wednesday at 10am for a gentle walk of around an hour.  All are welcome. More details from Jo Lefroy.

CAP VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: More volunteers needed for the CAP debt     centre. Full training provided (next session in December). Daytime availability preferred. Contact the manager, Jane Preston 07910 779345 or email              janepreston@capuk.org for more details.

DAILY READINGS DURING ADVENT: This December we’re encouraged to spend a little time each day enjoying the season of Advent, as well as the inevitable preparation for Christmas.  We’ve prepared a set of short daily readings and reflections, contributed by a variety of our church members. You can pick up a booklet in church, or download it from www.stjohnsmuxton.org.uk/advent if you prefer to have it on your tablet or smartphone.

ST MICHAEL’S PCC meets next tomorrow evening 7.30pm in church.

PRAYERS FOR CAP: We continue to run a regular prayer time for the CAP Debt Centre, we meet this Tuesday (21st) at St John’s 9am in the Acorn Room.

TGI SUNDAY: Our young people, aged 10+, meet for their next TGI event on Sunday 26th November 6pm at St John’s.

SHROPSHIRE HOPE invites you to an evening with Roy Crowne, Executive    Director of HOPE…7.30pm Wednesday 29th November Christ Church, Bayston Hill, SY3 0PZ.   See poster for further details.  Matthew is going and has a   couple of spare seats if you are interested.

ST JOHN’S CHRISTMAS FAIR is planned for Saturday 2nd December    between 11-2.30pm.  There will be various stalls, crafts for kids and displays from local groups.

St Michael’s are holding an ADVENT CONCERT on Sunday 3rd December at 3.30pm with musical entertainment from Ann, Rich and Nykko. Mulled wine and

mince pies will be served.

ST MICHAELS CHOIR will be singing carols at the Christmas Market in the Town Centre on Friday 8th December between 7-7.30pm raising funds for St Michael’s Church and we would like to invite you to join the choir to sing with them.

HOST UK is a charity whose mission is to give a welcome to international    students in British homes for friendship and cultural exchange. GOOD MORNING SUNDAY at St John’s. Breakfast from 8.15-9.15am, the Sunday papers, conversation, prayer and reflection. (Not on the 5th Sunday).

WORSHIP, LUNCH & MUSIC takes place on the First Thursday of each month (except August) and every week during Lent. We begin with a service of Communion at noon followed by lunch and a recital.

A MEN’S BREAKFAST takes place on the second Saturday of each month 8.30am at The Whitehouse Hotel in Muxton.  Please let Simon T, Matthew or Lesley know you are coming.

You are invited to St Michael’s to  POP IN FOR COFFEE on the third   Thursday of each month between 10am-12noon all very welcome

each month from 9.30am – 12noon.  (21st December).

PATHFINDERS: School Years R-Y6. Meets every Thursday at 5pm during term time at St Michael’s. Tea served at 5.05pm.  Come and join the fun £2 per      session includes food. Email to help with catering.

SPARK: meet during every Sunday service except Church Praze services. For ages 10+. Term time only. Please see Thom for further information.

BLAZE: A new mid week 11’s-14’s group. It takes place between 6-7:30pm on Wednesdays at St Michael’s Church. Contact Thom for further details.

SUB:ZERO – cafe style youth club for School years 7+ at St John’s 4-6pm on Friday’s during term time. followed by ABSOLUTE:ZERO approx 5.30pm (during Sub:Zero)….A chance to ask questions about God and being a Christian…

FUSION: (14 – 18 year olds) will meet weekly at St John’s.  The meeting time is Sunday evenings 7.15 – 8.30pm during term time. We meet for Bible study, prayer and discussion. Call 670760 for info.
