90KG RICE CHALLENGE: JTS is a fair trade organisation set up to facilitate the import and distribution of fairly traded products to the UK and are continually searching for new fairly traded products to bring to the UK market. They work with farmers’ associations to support farmers as they develop their businesses and to keep them motivated with a promise of good markets for their produce. They work with fair trade supporters in the UK to ensure that as African farmers increase their volumes there will be a growing market in the UK and Europe for their produce. Their delicious Kilombero rice hails from Malawi. The rice is bought through NASFAM, the largest independent, smallholder-owned membership organization in Malawi. It provides training, farm inputs and a fair price for their products to its members. St John’s and St Michael’s are supporting this challenge ….you can purchase brown or white rice from the church office or on a Sunday. www.jts.co.uk/90kg-rice-challenge

At the home of Martha and Mary
38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’
41 ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed – or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’
