Our Services

At St Michael’s, we have a wide range of services. These include morning and evening services, family services and messy church. More information about each type of service is given below, and the Sundays on which they normally happen. To see a list of which services are on when this month, click here.

9.30 am Services:

Do join us for coffee after a service!

A blend of old and new.  Common Worship services with a mixture of hymns and modern songs, good teaching and choir.  Music varies between organ, electric piano, guitar and sometimes violin  – the instrument choice made by the Organist Mr Richard Fox.  Trekkers for 3-10s and Spark for 11-14s meet twice a month during the services.  Coffee /tea & biscuits are available after.  Clergy robe for Holy Communion but preachers do not robe.

First, third and fifth Sundays are Holy Communion
Second and Fourth are Morning Worship

All Age Services:

– Messy Church:
Six times a year on a Thursday afternoon starting at 4pm
A fun informal worship event starting with drinks and doughnuts, interactive songs suitable for children, all manner of messy craft activities exploring the theme, a short-talk, more singing and hot food to finish… All are welcome to join us…

– 9:30am All Age Communion 
Third and Fifth Sundays in the month

6.30pm Evening Services:
We have an evening service every week.  A part from the first Sunday of the month when we have a Contemporary Service, we have a traditional and well-attended evening service with liturgy, hymns and a sermon.  Twice a month this is with an organist.

– 6.30pm Contemporary Service – NOW WORSHIP
First Sunday each month.
A new service with refreshments, informal worship usually led by a small music group, interactive teaching and the opportunity to receive prayer.

– 6.30pm Holy Communion:
Second and third Sunday each month.
Common Worship Liturgy, Good teaching, Robes,  Choir. No organ.
Communion at the rail in the chancel.

– 6.30pm Evening Prayer:
Third Sunday each month
Book of Common Prayer Evening Prayer, Good teaching, Robes, Choir and usually all hymns with the organ.

– 6.30pm Evening Prayer or Holy Communion
Fifth Sunday
Usually Common Worship Liturgy but can include other liturgy, Good teaching, Robes,  Choir. No organ
